You can delete your account in the app, or by email if you no longer have the app.
Option 1: in the app
You need an internet connection.
- Open Awaz and go to the Progress tab.
- Tap the Settings gear button at the top.
- At the bottom, under Account, tap the Delete account option.
- Read what will be deleted, then tap Continue.
- After 3 seconds, tap Delete account again to confirm.
To keep your progress, choose Open data and backup in step 4 first, and make a backup file.
If the app asks you to sign in again, use Log out, sign in with the same account and repeat the steps. If the server's answer is uncertain, the app pauses access to this account's local data until it can check and finish the deletion.
Option 2: by email, without the app
Email support@awaz.fyi with the subject Delete my Awaz account.
- Google account: send it from the Google email address you signed in with.
- Mobile number: write the number you signed in with. We may contact that number to confirm that the request is yours.
We ask for nothing else. We delete the account within 30 days and confirm by email.
An email request cannot reach your phone. To remove the data on your phone, uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android's settings. To remove only your study progress, use Delete all progress (below).
What is deleted
- Your account at Google Firebase: the account ID, mobile number or Google email, name, profile-photo link, link to your Google account, and sign-in dates. If you sign in again later, a new account is created.
- Your synced study data and settings stored for this account in Upstash Redis: answers, results, bookmarks, mistakes, flashcard marks, course enrollments, name and preferences. This also applies to a verified email deletion request.
- With in-app deletion, also this data on your phone: exam results, points, streak and league; bookmarks, mistakes list and enrolled courses; flashcard progress; name, avatar, goals, reminders and other settings. Reminders are switched off. The IDs that Google's software uses for this installation are reset, and no usage statistics are sent until someone signs in again.
What is kept, and for how long
- Firebase removes the account from its live and backup systems within 180 days. It keeps sign-in IP address logs for a few weeks.
- Usage statistics already sent to Google Analytics are not linked to your account, so we cannot find or remove one person's statistics. Google keeps the data linked to an installation's ID for 2 months, and then deletes it in a clean-up that runs once a month. Totals that identify no one are kept.
- Your deletion email is kept for up to 12 months as a record of the request.
- Backup files you saved stay with you. Delete them yourself.
- If Android backup is on, your Google account's backup may hold a copy of the app's data. Google manages it, and it is replaced at the next backup.
- The app keeps one technical record on the phone: the deleted account's ID, which notes whose data the phone held. It is replaced at the next sign-in and removed when you uninstall the app.
If you bought a package
- A running package ends with the account. There is no refund for unused days, except in the cases the refund policy names.
- The record of your package's term on our server is deleted.
- If you sign in again with the same number or email, a new, empty account is created. The earlier package does not come back by itself. If you deleted your account by mistake, write to support@awaz.fyi with the order number.
- Order and payment records are kept for 6 years, for accounts, legal duties, complaints and disputes. After deletion they are cut off from the account. They still hold the mobile number or email given at checkout.
- Our server's audit records keep the deleted account's ID for 6 years: when an order was attached to the account, when package information was given to the app, and when the account was deleted. They hold no mobile number or email.
Delete your progress but keep your account
In the app, open Settings → Data and backup → Delete all progress. This removes your results, points, streak, bookmarks, mistakes list, enrolled courses and flashcard progress from the phone and syncs that deletion to your other devices when they connect. Your account and settings stay.
To stop usage statistics without deleting anything, turn off Send usage data under Settings → Data and privacy.
Signing out with the Log out control deletes nothing.
